Wolfe Tones lined up for massive West Belfast rebel night

World famous Irish rebel group The Wolfe Tones will headline the 'Let the People Sing' concert in the Andersonstown Leisure Centre on Easter Saturday night, 3 April. Well known Glasgow rebel band Shebeen and Bizardunak, the 'Basque Pogues', have been added to the bill in what promises to be the biggest rebel night that West Belfast has ever seen. Free article

Ó Snodaigh to produce bill to eliminate head shops

Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh has announced that his office is in the final stages of drafting a bill which would eliminate head shops from our communities. Speaking after attending a protest at Leinster House on Wednesday, Ó Snodaigh said Sinn Féin activists will work to raise awareness of the dangers of the products sold in head shops and join with communities to protest against the presence of head shops in our constituencies. Sinn Féin students visit European Parliament

A delegation of Sinn Féin students has just returned from a trip to the European Parliament in Brussels, hosted by the party's MEP, Bairbre de Brún. The delegation was made up of 27 students active in cumainn organised at the University of Ulster Magee, Coleraine and Jordanstown, Queens University Belfast and St Mary's University College, Belfast, respectively. Sunday World forced to apologise

On 21 February the Sunday World apologised to Joe Whelan about an article accusing him of engaging in criminal activity. The Sunday World accepted that the allegations made by their columnist Paul Williams in July 2007, were false. They also paid legal fees and damages in relation to this. Free article

Liverpool Easter Lily Campaign launched

St. Michael's Irish Centre was the venue on Sunday last for the launch of a local campaign to promote the wearing of the Easter Lily in recognition of the men and women volunteers who took part in the Easter Rising of 1916, and more importantly to raise awareness of the contribution made by members of the Liverpool Irish community who travelled to Dublin to take part in the fighting that week. The Tyrone Sinn Féin Commemoration committee went online this week as republicans prepare to embark on a robust programme of activities to mark the 94th anniversary of the Easter Rising. Speaking at the launch of the website, the committee's PRO, Declan Mc Aleer said: "The Tyrone Sinn Féin Commemoration committee have a packed programme for Easter weekend. This includes over 40 commemorations throughout the county, the opening of a museum in Coalisland, Easter murals, a photographic exhibition in Carrickmore and the 1916 street theatre in Carrickmore, which our members are busily preparing for.
