SINN FÉIN Dublin City Councillor Christy Burke appeared at the Mahon Tribunal on Tuesday, 26 February, to deny allegations by property developer Tom Gilmartin who told the tribunal that he was one of three men who said they were from the IRA and warned him to stay away from Clondalkin. Blaze at Shell refinery site

A LARGE fire occurred at the site of the controversial proposed Shell refinery in Erris, County Mayo, last Friday, in the woods at Bellinaboy. The flames could be seen from across the estuary in Rossport. Flames were first seen at around 9pm and the fire raged until the next morning when three units of the Mayo Fire Brigade reported that it was extinguished at 4am. Free article

IN THE EARLY HOURS of Saturday, 23 February 1985, undercover British forces ambushed and summarily executed three young IRA Volunteers Charles Breslin and brothers Michael and David Devine, in a field overlooking Casement Place in the Head of the Town area. Free article
