Martin, in a manner of speaking, took the scenic route into the Dáil having travelled through various police stations, served a number of prison sentences, and made relentless escape attempts before eventually being elected a TD. Oncologist dropped by RTÉ talks to An Phoblacht

PROFESSOR John Crown is one of Ireland's leading cancer specialists. This week he has been at the eye of a media and political storm after he was dropped from the panel of last Friday night's Late Late Show on RTÉ. He disputes the version of events presented by RTÉ. The station's managing director of television, Noel Curran, said it was not his decision to drop Crown but he had instructed the programme's editor to "change the panel and balance the item". It was Crown, an oncologist at Dublin's St Vincent's Hospital, who was dropped. Free article

Huge crowds mark 50th anniversary of Edentubber Martyrs

The largest crowds ever seen for an Edentubber commemoration turned out on the Louth/Armagh border on Sunday, 11 November, to mark the 50th anniversary of the deaths of five republican activists killed during the 1956-62 IRA Border Campaign when a landmine exploded prematurely. Free article

Arrest and assault of Tom Murphy raise serious questions

AFTER darkness had fallen on Wednesday night, 7 November, Tom Murphy was on his way home from a GAA match in Dundalk. He was with his brother and his sister-in-law. Their car was forcibly stopped on a country road by a Northern-registered jeep. Free article
