Speaking at a press conference in Dublin on Monday, 27 August, Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD called for a crackdown on serious drug and gun crime in the Garda Policing Plan 2008. Ó Snodaigh was launching Sinn Féin's Submission to the Policing Plan in which the party also calls for all future policing plans to work towards the establishment of an all-Ireland policing service. Sinn Féin meets IMPACT and Shannon Action Group on crisis

Following a meeting in Leinster House on Wednesday, Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has criticised government inaction since Aer Lingus announced its decision to withdraw the airline's Shannon to Heathrow route, and has urged the Taoiseach to use today's cabinet meeting to agree a change in approach to the impending crisis for the mid western region. Loyalist Parade : Drunken sectarian coat trailing in Newry

Sinn Féin Newry/Mourne Councillor Brendan Curran has criticised a loyalist band parade involving over 40 Bands parading through the greater Belfast/Rathfriland Road area of the city, last Friday 24 August. He said that the parade was viewed by the mainly nationalist residents of that area, as "a deliberately sectarian romp and coat trailing exercise". Free article

Ó Caoláin slams government policies on A&Es and nursing homes

Commenting this week on a new survey linking distance travelled by ambulance to hospital emergency departments to the risk of death, Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has called on the Irish Government to heed the warning and to scrap plans to close A&E units around the State.
