Mo bhealach fhéin

The Mitchel McLaughlin Column - Unionist political principles

David Ervine, who has openly admitted that he speaks for the UVF, an organisation not on ceasefire, involved in internecine murder, racism and a litany of murderous attacks on the nationalist community, can align himself with whichever party he chooses. But it's a bit rich of Ulster Unionists having collapsed the political institutions of the Good Friday Agreement by refusing to share power with Sinn Féin, to now embrace the political leadership of the UVF.

Remembering McElwain

Seamus McElwaine

Although firmly rooted in the Irish historical experience, the Republican Movement during the recent phase of conflict was little concerned with leaving a record for future generations. The Matt Treact Column - Bog snorkelling conditions should have seen hurling matches called off

Congratulations to Westmeath on defeating Dublin in the Leinster hurling championship. If they can persuade Kilkenny to play the next game in a particularly soggy rice paddy field they might advance further.

Media View - Distorting the reality of sectarianism: BY FRANK FARRELL

Michael McIlveen

That The Irish Times did not even bother to editorialise on the sectarian murder of Michael McIlveen in Ballymena was probably a merciful relief. The message would undoubtedly have been composed of that most disingenuous of all Southern media distortions of Northern reality - 'sure there's a pair of them in it'.
