Des Bishop's latest TV project and a 'fly-on-the-wall' look at the Dublin football team. Photo: Des Bishop Remembering the Past: Classic case of collusion On 27 January 1977, Michael McHugh was murdered by two members of the UDA, one of them a British Army agent, at Aghyaran or Corgary near Castlederg, County Tyrone Migrant workers -Leitrim can lead the way
Leitrim has long suffered from emigration that saw its population decline steadily in almost every decade of the 20th Century. It is only in very recent times that this haemorrhage has subsided. Now Leitrim, like every other County in the 26 Counties, is host to an entirely new phenomenon - immigration. Here Leitrim County Councillor Michael Colreavy argues that this can be of benefit to Leitrim, Ireland and those people who have come here seeking work, but only if managed properly and sensibly Why are our young men killing themselves? Poverty and gender have emerged as significant factors in the increasing rate of suicide in the North. A growing phenomenon of young working-class men taking their own lives has led to calls for a more pro-active approach to prevention. Cúlchaint: An Union Jack i Croker! - le Seán ó Donaile
Agus mé I mo ghasúr ní raibh baint ar bith againn leis an diabhal sacair nó na cluiche Gallda i gCondae an Chláir. Bhí dúil ar fad againn san iomáint agus mar a dúirt an t-uasal Ger Loughnane is ionann an saol agus an iomáint. Seo roinnt samplaí de na hainmneacha amaideacha a chuirtear ar eastáit tithe atá á thógáil chun freastal ar na sluaite ceannaitheoirí tithe sa tír. An Phoblacht's famous weekly satirical column. The week in quotes. My grandfather played in the 1925 All-Ireland Junior Hurling Final when Dublin were beaten by Cork. He was a member of the Commercials team that won the Dublin championship and selected the Dublin county side. Like most of the Commercials he was from Tipperary.
Níl amhras ann ach go bhfuil ré nua i ndán do fhoireann shacar na hÉireann ó a tháinig Steve Staunton i gcomharbacht mar bhainisteoir nua ar an bhfoireann náisiúnta. Iar-imreoir d'fhoireann na hÉireann is ea Staunton a d'imir 102 uair, níos mó ná aon imreoir eile agus a chaith babhta de mar chaptaen ar an bhfoireann úd. Níl mórán taithí aige mar bhainisteoir ach mar leas-bhainisteoir le foireann Wallsall i Sasana. Tá Bobby Robson ceaptha mar chomhairleoir do Staunton, ag tabhairt san áireamh an taithí ollmhór aige mar bhainisteoir ar fhoireann náisiúnta Shasana, foirne shacar ar nós Ipswich, Barcelona, Lisbon, Newcastle agus eile. Come back Conor Brady, all is (almost) forgiven. Former Irish Times editor Brady, a Fine Gael supporter once nicknamed 'The Commissioner' because of his strong Garda background, was hardly progressive. He presided over a newspaper that was heavily influenced by the Workers Party/Democratic Left moles (the real agents of influence inside Irish society over the last 30 years) and it was the bible of the liberal middle class and intelligentsia.
