Children the main targets in unionist terror campaign

While unionist politicians have publicly endorsed the newly-launched 'Love' campaign the effects of the unionist hate campaign are felt being felt nationalist children in various parts of the Six Counties. Nine-year-old Megan Meredity sat on the back step of her North Belfast home as the media photographed the latest in a series of sectarian attacks on nationalist homes in the Whitewell Road area. Irish republican held in Spanish jail

Leonard Hardy, the 44-year-old Irish republican detained by Spanish authorities following an extradition request by Germany, remains in prison in Madrid. On 17 August he was arrested in Terremolinos while on holidays with his wife. This followed an international arrest warrant issued by German authorities in relation to an IRA attack on a British Army base in Osnabrück in 1989. Free article

As the Shell-to-Sea campaign continues to grow in support all over Ireland, it has emerged that the company doing a safety review of the Corrib gas pipeline is linked to another company that has been fined in connection with an explosion that killed four people in Scotland. Free article

Getting the message out

A huge banner has been unveiled in Dublin city centre to advertise the national rally for Irish unity which takes place in the city on 24 September. The event forms part of Sinn Féin's Céad Bliain anniversary celebrations. Free article
