2 September 2012

AR MHAITHE le mo chomhleacaithe as Corcaigh, is ar Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann atáim ag trácht ar agus ní haon saghas Fleadh eile! I mbliana bhí seastán Gaoluinne againn i gcomhpháirtíocht le siopa áitiúla Shinn Féin imbaile Cabhán le linn Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Caithfidh mé a rá gur chuir an cumann áitiúil taispeántais don scoth ar siúl ag díriú ar Mhná Poblachtánacha. Free article

The regeneration game

‘TOO MALE, TOO PALE AND TOO STALE’ was the quote often given about political institutions on this island and few could argue with that sentiment.  The majority of politicians in Ireland fall onto the bracket of being middle-aged or older males, but is Sinn Féin changing that perception? Eyewitnesses in the West Bank

2 September 2012

IN JUNE of this year, two young Sinn Féin activists, sisters Mary Kate and Mairead Quinn, travelled to the West Bank with the education charity UNIPAL to work with Palestinian children and teach English. Before their departure they talked to An Phoblacht’s PEADAR WHELAN about their hopes and fears for their six-week stay in a country under unrelenting Zionist occupation and military control. Fear an Mhisnigh

NÍOR CHAS mise ariamh le John Joe McGirl, ach bhí tionchar aige ar mo shaol agus mó ról mar ionadaí poiblí. Sna 1980 aí chuidigh sé leis an rún a thug cead d’ionadaithe tofa Shinn Féin glacadh lena gcuid suíocháin Dála agus Seanaid. Murach é, is dócha nach mbéinn i mo Sheanadóir inniu. Is maith a thuig mé sin nuair a fuair mé cuireadh aitheasc a thabhairt ina onóir ag an gcomóradh ar a shon ina bhaile dúchais, Béal an Átha Móir, le déanaí. Premium service article

Up for the challenge

2 September 2012

INSPIRATION comes in many ways. As a teenager growing up in Sinn Féin, it was through Brian Keenan that inspiration came to me. He had an air of legend about him, a man with massive presence and a glowing persistent temperament. For me he personified the age-old Irish struggle for national liberation and reunification. When Brian Keenan spoke, you listened. Not because he was one for using the latest buzzword and not because he spoke as someone at the cutting edge of the struggle ‘to keep the troops happy’. You listened because he had a remarkable talent for imparting knowledge. He was a revolutionary teacher in so many ways. Premium service article
