Arrested men's families issue appeal

The families of men arrested and assaulted in South Armagh earlier this month have issued a statement outlining the nature of the assaults and calling for help to prevent a miscarriage of justice. The men have been charged with serious offences. Free article
Scots guards release more likely

Scots guards James Fisher, 28 and Mark Wright 23, who murdered North Belfast teenager Peter McBride in the New Lodge area of Belfast in 1992 have been told that their life sentences will be reviewed in October. Free article
Orange RUC men back on duty

The Director of Public Prosecutions has decided that four RUC men, suspended on full pay, who took part in Orange Order protests at the time of Drumcree in 1996 should not face criminal charges, and the four have now had their suspensions lifted. The accusations of involvement will still be the focus of an internal RUC disciplinary committee, but their reinstatement seriously damages RUC credibility in nationalist eyes. Free article

McCann memorial unveiled

During a ceremony that was clearly moving for the family of Joe McCann, and curious by Belfast standards, a plaque was unveiled on the 25th anniversary of the death of this Official IRA volunteer on Sunday 13 April at Joy Street where McCann was shot dead by British paratroops. Free article
