Sinn Féin is holding a key conference on Social Partnership in Dublin on 19 November. An Phoblacht spoke to the party's Employment spokesperson Arthur Morgan TD about the conference which he will address along with Sinn Féin General Secretary Mitchel McLaughlin and prominent trade unions leaders. The big story from last weekend's club championship was the victory of St Galls of Antrim over Tyrone champions Carrickmore. Mind you, having won their fifth Antrim title in a row, not to mention this year's All-Ireland seven-a-side, there were a number of shrewd judges who fancied the Belfast men to reverse last year's result and backed them at 7/4. St Gall's attempt to win the Ulster title for the first time since 1982 will have been helped by the fact that many people's favourites Crossmaglen were put out by Bellaghy. Free article

Remembering the Past: Edentubber Martyrs

On Monday 11 November 1957, five republicans were killed in an explosion which demolished a small cottage at the foot of Edentubber Mountain in County Louth. Gardaí on the scene shortly after the explosion, found human remains scattered by the blast and only after lengthy examination of the remains was it established that five men had been killed.
