Stamp duty proposals will not make housing more affordable

Following the publication of the new Government's Finance (No. 2) Bill allowing for the abolition of stamp duty for first time buyers, Sinn Féin spokesperson on housing Arthur Morgan TD said on Wednesday that the Bill is deeply flawed and ill thought out and that the most likely effect would be an increase in house prices. Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin took unwell on Tuesday while at Leinster House. As a precautionary measure Ó Caoláin was taken to St James's Hospital in Dublin from where he was released a number of hours later. Ó Caoláin was back at work in Leinster House on Wednesday. Free article
