Demilitarisation conference hears UUP speaker

Ógra Shinn Féin in County Galway's first National Demilitarisation conference on 11 and 12 December in Galway City was a "huge success", according to PRO for East Galway Sinn Féin, Sorcha Ní Dhubhda. The weekend received backing from young republicans all over Ireland, attracting delegates from counties such as Antrim, Tyrone, Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Roscommon, Waterford and Clare. Free article

Sinn Féin calls for CS Spray investigation

Sinn Féin chair of Strabane District Council, Jarlath McNulty, has called for a breakdown of the areas in which CS spray has been used in the Six Counties after the PSNI used the controversial CS gas for the first time in the town during a disturbance at Abercorn Square in the early hours of Sunday 19 December. Brit chopper buzzes homes

Derry City Sinn Féin Councillor Billy Page has accused the British Army of operating a policy of vindictiveness against the whole of the city's nationalist population, after a heavy British Army helicopter buzzed the rooftops of homes on Tuesday night, before the majority of children returned to school. Death of Patrick (Paddy Doc) Doherty

It was with great sadness and regret that we learnt of the death of one of our comrades, Patrick, (Paddy Doc) Doherty. His passing saddens all of us who knew him yet we are honoured to have known such a fine, quiet and considerate comrade. Paddy Doc, as he was known to his friends, died after being in a coma for a number of months. This was a very difficult time for his family, whose strength, love, care and commitment during this period was an inspiration to us all. Free article
