Catalan weekend in Belfast

Around 100 people participated in a series of events discussing the Catalan struggle for independence and celebrating Catalan culture last weekend in Belfast. This included about 40 young people who travelled to Ireland from the Catalan Countries to take part in a political lecture, a dinner and concert, and a tour of republican Belfast. Free article

25th anniversary of shoot-to-kill deaths

Memories are still raw in Strabane about the terrible events that took place in the early hours of 23 February 1985, when three young local IRA Volunteers Charlie Breslin (aged 20), and brothers Michael Devine (aged 22) and David Devine (aged 16) were summarily executed by British State Forces in a pre-planned shoot-to-kill operation in a field overlooking the Head of the Town area of their home town.
