Finucane poster campaign launched

Two thousand members of the legal profession from Ireland and accross the world, including the Irish Attorney General, have put their signatures to a campaign poster supporting the UN Special Rapporteur's call for an Judicial inquiry into the murder of human rights lawyer Pat Finucane.

The poster, which the Finucane family originally carried on full page news advertisements, has now been printed in poster form and was formally launched on Friday in Dublin by both Pat's widow Geraldine and son Michael.

Both appeared on RTE's Late Late Show explaining the necessity for the truth to be told about Pat's murder and why there needed to be a full independent judicial inquiry. In relation to collusion Geraldine said, ``that the case of Pat was just the tip of the iceberg and that there are many other families also affected by collusion and that they too needed the truth.''

Posters can be obtained through Relatives for Justice in Belfast and the Pat Finucane Centre in Derry. ``We are encouraging solicitors, community groups, women's groups, youth groups, student and educational bodies, and those interested in promoting human rights groups to display the poster in support of the family's call for a fully independent inquiry,'' said Mark Thompson of Relatives for Justice.
