Cahill mural unveiled

Saturday 26 March saw the unveiling of a mural dedicated to republican veteran Joe Cahill, his brothers Tom and Frank, and other republicans from the Whiterock area. Painted by renowned Belfast mural artist Danny Devenny, the mural captures the essence and spirit of Joe and his comrades. Free article
Litany of exploitation in work permits system

Sinn Féin Dáil spokesperson on Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Arthur Morgan, last week called for legislation to be immediately brought forward to reform the work permits system in light of the litany of revelations of exploitation of migrant workers which have come to public attention in recent days. Sinn Féin's strong challenge in Ballymoney

Sinn Féin is set to make its strongest ever challenge to win seats to Ballymoney Council in the Council elections in May. At the recent election convention, the party picked Anita Cavlan to stand in Bushvale and Cllr Philip McGuigan and Daithí McKay to stand in Bann Valley. Councillors jet off to New York, while elderly languish

Over the past few weeks, Sinn Féin's only representative on Waterford County Council, Councillor Brendan Mansfield, has taken on and exposed the establishment parties. He was particularly angry that seven Waterford County Councillors jetted off to the St Patrick's Day Parade in New York, at a cost of €16,137, while at the same time, he said, the Day Care Centre for the elderly in Dungarvan resembles nothing more than a boarded up shed. Doherty confident as SDLP bottles it

Sinn Féin West Tyrone MP Pat Doherty says it appears that the SDLP has thrown in the towel in West Tyrone in advance of the May elections. He was responding to reports that the SDLP West Tyrone constituency party is recommending they withdraw from the Westminster contest so Dr Ciarán Deeney can have a free run against Doherty. Leonard selected to contest East Derry seat

Councillor Billy Leonard has been selected by Sinn Féin as the party's candidate to fight for the East Derry seat in May's Westminster election. At a party convention on Wednesday 23 March, delegates selected the sitting member of Coleraine Borough Council. Free article

Fermanagh Fenian honoured

On Easter Monday, a crowd of several hundred from North Fermanagh and West Tyrone assembled at Montiagh, near Ederney, County Fermanagh, for the unveiling of a Memorial to the Fermanagh Fenian, Michael Barrett, executed by the British Government in 1868. The unveiling and oration was performed by Sinn Féin Vice-President Pat Doherty, MP for West Tyrone. Free article
