Orange Hall ``celebration'' ends in tragedy

Last year's St. Patrick's Day fell on the eve of Rosemary Nelson's funeral. The Lurgan defence lawyer died as a result of a loyalist car bomb attack just two days earlier. As a mark of respect, nationalist residents of the Garvaghy Road, many of whom knew Rosemary personally, cancelled their planned celebrations. Free article
RUC behind sinister calls

RUC officers based at Lurgan RUC barracks were behind a series of anonymous, malicious phone calls aimed at destroying a business belonging to the partner of republican Colin Duffy, it has emerged. Upper Bann Sinn Féin Assembly member Dara O'Hagan is now calling for an independent public inquiry into the RUC's actions. Free article

Dublin eviction resisted

At least 30 people, local supporters, members of the Housing Action Campaign and of Sinn Féin, gathered on Tuesday morning, 21 March, to greet the Dublin city sheriff, who was due to evict tenants from two flats in Crumlin - Brendan and Nicola and their four-month-old baby, and Bernice and her daughter from another flat.
