Fresh sectarian attacks in Antrim

A 21-year-old nationalist man was rushed to Antrim area hospital after he was seriously assaulted by an LVF gang at around 3am on Sunday 12 January. The man sustained a broken arm and cuts to his legs and body after being hit with baseball bats and cudgels studded with nails in the Greystone estate. Free article

The family of IRA Volunteer Gervaise McKerr, who was killed by the RUC in a shoot to kill operation on 11 November 1982, has welcomed the judgement of the Court of Appeal in Belfast that the British government failed to properly investigate the shootings 20 years ago. Free article


Strand attacked again

Sporadic stoning from the loyalist Cluan Place into the nationalist Clandeboye area of the Short Strand over the weekend escalated into a sustained attack that lasted over 20 minutes just after midnight on Monday 13 January.
