Now Leitrim, like every other County in the 26 Counties, is host to an entirely new phenomenon - immigration. Ré nua do shacar na hÉireann
19 January 2006
Níl amhras ann ach go bhfuil ré nua i ndán do fhoireann shacar na hÉireann ó a tháinig Steve Staunton i gcomharbacht mar bhainisteoir nua ar an bhfoireann náisiúnta. Iar-imreoir d'fhoireann na hÉireann is ea Staunton a d'imir 102 uair, níos mó ná aon imreoir eile agus a chaith babhta de mar chaptaen ar an bhfoireann úd. Níl mórán taithí aige mar bhainisteoir ach mar leas-bhainisteoir le foireann Wallsall i Sasana. Tá Bobby Robson ceaptha mar chomhairleoir do Staunton, ag tabhairt san áireamh an taithí ollmhór aige mar bhainisteoir ar fhoireann náisiúnta Shasana, foirne shacar ar nós Ipswich, Barcelona, Lisbon, Newcastle agus eile.
