Sinn Féin Councillor Dessie Ellis has called on the Department of Education to give the go-ahead for the purchase of a site in Santry for Gaelscoil Cholmcille.
"Gaelscoil Cholmcille has been looking for a site since 1996," he said. "They have been let down on five separate occasions in the past few years and now urgently need a site for a new school.
"The staff and parents have managed to provide an excellent education in the Gaelscoil despite being housed in totally unsuitable accommodation in St Kevin's Football Club.
"There is a large area of land (about 40 acres) in Santry off Coolock Lane within the control of Dublin City Council. There are two suitable areas within these lands. There seems to be no reason why Gaelscoil Cholmcille shouldn't get a mere 2.5 acres in this area."
