Ó Caoláin supports recall of Dáil after Sinnott case

Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has backed the call of the newly formed Irish Autism Alliance for the recall of the Dáil in order to safeguard the rights of people with disabilities in the wake of the Jamie Sinnott Supreme Court judgement.

``People with disabilities and their relatives, particularly those affected by autism, are deeply distressed at the implications of the Supreme Court judgement,'' the Cavan/Monaghan TD said. ``We need now to guarantee the educational rights of these citizens. I support the call for the recall of the Dáil to consider this matter.

``The government should bring forward publication of its Disabilities Bill which was not due to be published until late this year. We need to consider also if constitutional change is necessary in the light of the judgement. These matters should not be left until October.''
