Hunger strike rally postponed

The national hunger strike rally scheduled for 6 May in Belfast has had to be postponed until 12 August due to the ongoing Foot and Mouth crisis.

The decision was announced by Sinn Féin President Gerry Adam and Fermanagh South Tyrone Assembly member Michelle Gildernew at a press conference in Belfast on Wednesday, 25 April. Adams commended everyone for the work that has been done to date and asked that the same effort be put into the new August mobilisation. ``I have been amazed at the response of people across the island to the events that have already been held to mark this special time,'' he said.
