Two new Mayo Sinn Féin cumainn
Sinn Féin has set up two new Cumann as part of the ongoing development of the party in Mayo. One is centred in Newport and he other in East Mayo, taking in the Swinford, Charlestown and Kilkelly areas.
Sinn Féin Ard Chomhairle member Vincent Wood said that Sinn Féin now has a structure in place covering large parts of the county, with cumainn in Achill, Westport, Erris and now Newport in the west of the county, Ballina, Killala and Ballycastle in the north and the new cumann covering East Mayo. There is also a cumann in Castlebar.
``We are in the processing of bringing people together in the Ballinrobe area and also in the Claremorris area and will be making statement about these developments later,'' said Wood. ``By the time of the next election we will have a structure in place in each of Mayo's electoral areas and will be well positioned to mount an effective challenge for a Dáil seat.''
