Birr office opened

BY JONATHAN O'MEARA

Birr's Sinn Féin constituency office was officially reopened by Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor Larry O'Toole on 26 January, a great step forward for the party in the county.

The office was first opened in the early `80s by local councillor John Carroll, but lack of funds forced it shut its doors. The building has been derelict until now. The newly refurbished office will be opened every Saturday for the public. It will also house a small bookshop where the public can buy republican publications. The office will be mainly used for cumann meetings in Birr and the surrounding area.

Larry O'Toole said that he ``was very proud to be involved in the opening of the office'' and stressed that such offices would strengthen the party. He thanked local cumann members for their continuing support and wished them well with their new premises.
