Sinn Féin attends peace conference in Jordan

Meath Councillor and Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle member Joe Reilly was recently in Amman, Jordan, where he attended a conference on Leadership: Post-Conflict Peace Building in the city's United Nations University.

The conference was attended by delegates from Indonesia, East Timor, South Africa, Ireland (Sinn Féin, SDLP and UUP) and Jordan. Visiting academics from across the world spoke, although delegates from Palestine were unable to mattend due to the political unrest at home.

In his contribnution to the conference, Joe reilly traced the history of the peace process in relation to the various developments within the leaderships of the various parties. He also outlined how Sinn Féin would like to see the peace process develop and the type of political leadership that will be needed to bring about success. His copntribution was followed by a question and answer session.
