Incinerator protest at Dublin Corpo

Dublin Corporation's proposal to build an incinerator on the Poolbeg Peninsula in Ringsend continues to meet with local opposition. Speaking at a rally outside the recent Corporation meeting on Monday, 8 May, Dublin South East representative Daithi Doolan assured demonstrators that Ringsend, Irishtown an Sandymount will continue to have his and Sinn Féin's active support. ``Incineration is a political, social and economic issue which need to be opposed by communities,'' he said. ``As has been proved in the past, we cannot leave these decision to be made on our behalf. We, the local community, need to be organised and ensure our voice is heard at every level. Incineration is not welcome under any circumstance.''
