Vol Pat Cannon remembered
The Volunteer Patrick Cannon commemoration held in Dublin last Saturday proceeded from the Darndale roundabout to Balgriffin Cemetery led by the Smith/Harford/Doherty Republican Flute Band. Speeches were given at the cemetery by Danny Hamilton on behalf of Sinn Féin Youth and Larry O'Toole on behalf of Sinn Féin. Members of the Volunteer's family were also present.
Hamilton spoke of the setting up of a new Sinn Féin Youth cumann in the area and the enthusiastic response from many local young people.
Larry O'Toole expressed his heartfelt thanks to all those who had helped him in the past few months following his shooting and praised the courage and determination of local anti-drugs activists whom he said have continued their work despite ongoing intimidation and many other difficulties.
