SF members harassed in Buncrana

A Donegal Sinn Féin spokesperson has accused Garda special detectives of harassing party members in Buncrana.

According to the spokesperson the Branchmen, in two unmarked cars, monitored the Sinn Féin members arriving for a Monday night meeting on 22 September and remained until the meeting ended.

The spokesperson added that after the meeting members were then stopped at a Garda checkpoint and asked for names and addresses.

The spokesperson called on other political parties and elected representatives to demand an explanation of why, during the peace process, the Gardai "were harassing republicans whose only crime is to work for their community through the party they support, a political party that commands the support of 1600 voters in Inishowen and Buncrana".
