IF the barriers faced by people living with disability in the workplace are to be overcome, their experiences need to be listened to, Sinn Féin’s Sue Ramsey said during a presentation by disability groups in Stormont this week. Sue is Chair of the Assembly’s Employment and Learning Committee. She said:
“Undoubtedly there are barriers and there is discrimination in the workplace that can make it more difficult for people with a disability to get a job, to hold on to a job and to achieve career advancement.
“In the coming weeks, the Assembly Employment and Learning Committee will be looking in greater detail at the barrier to employment and the pathways there are in place to assist people with disabilities in the workplace.”
