Drug dealer threatens ex-POW

A KNOWN DRUG DEALER FROM Downpatrick's Meadowlands estate attacked the home of a republican ex-POW on Monday 6 January and threatened to ``cut his throat''.

The dealer arrived at the man's house carrying milk bottles and shouted abuse at the man's wife. The dealer accused the ex-POW - who was not home at the time - of ``hiding'' a group of men whom the dealer alleged attacked him.

When the ex-POW returned home after he heard about the incident the RUC was present. An RUC vehicle followed him while another RUC member questioned his wife about the drug dealer's accusations rather than about the threats he made.

Sinn Féin representative Garret O'Fachtna accused the RUC of ``intimidation'' and of ``siding with drug pushers''.
