Sinn Féin hosts EU Constitution conference

Sinn Féin is holding a two-day conference on the EU Constitution this weekend in the Irish Film Institute in Temple Bar, Dublin. The gathering will bring together academics, trade unionists, NGOs and MEPs from across the EU to examine the content and implications of the Constitution.

"Sinn Féin wants to see an open, honest and informed debate on the EU Constitution," said Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald. "We are hosting this conference with our partners in the European Parliament, European United Left/Nordic Green Left. Our intention is to promote and provoke debate as early as possible.

"This conference will see a broad range of speakers from seven different countries discuss all aspects of the Constitution. There will also be a debate on alternative visions of the EU."

The conference is free and open to the public.
