Sinn Féin hits out at Údarás record

Sinn Féin's Údarás candidate Gráinne Mhic Géidigh has slammed the sitting members of the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta. She hit out at the members' inability to deliver quality representation to the electorate.

"In the past we have seen those elected members also having another elected public role or a business to run," she said. "In the term of this board we have all seen that part-time representation does not work. All you have to do is look at the empty factories that are all over the Gaeltacht ,and you will see that part time members means part-time representation for the people , and that is not acceptable."

Gráinne pledges that if elected, she will work full time on the issues that affect the people of the Gaeltacht.

"It makes me very frustrated to see the current state the Donegal Gaeltacht is in," she said. "The people have had to endure too much. How any party can justify the inequality and unemployment is beyond me and to them, who try to justify it I say, go into the homes of the unemployed, tell them you are representing them to the fullest, justify the job losses to the families living on the brink of poverty. Údarás has failed the people of the Gaeltacht; that is the reality."
