Protest vigil at Tallaght Hospital

Sinn Féin TD Seán Crowe on Saturday afternoon organised a protest vigil at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin "in support of and solidarity with the staff and patients". The Tallaght-based TD was joined by councillors from the area and members of the local community who are concerned about the ongoing crisis affecting the hospital.

"There is a huge crisis affecting this hospital and it is having a seriously demoralising effect on staff, patients and indeed their families," said Crowe.

"The amount of patients being forced to lie on trolleys while awaiting treatment was already a very serious cause for concern. But now the massive outbreak of the winter vomiting bug is compounding that crisis.

"The Minister for Health needs to get a grip of the situation. We need the proper resources put in place to tackle not only the underlying problems but also for the emergency situations that have to be faced from time to time."
