Lagan Valley Commemoration

The Lagan Valley Commemoration Committee would like to invite the public to their annual commemoration weekend honouring local Volunteers from the area.

Starting on Friday evening at the Felons from 8pm, there is a celebration of local comrades who have fought and died in the struggle.

A Youth Day will be held on Saturday, beginning with a Gaelic tournament featuring local team Cumann na Fuiseoige at 11am at St John's pitches in Poleglass.

Afterwards, there will be refreshments and a fun day for players, families and friends at the Sally Gardens centre in Poleglass from 2pm to 4pm.

Later that evening, there will be an opportunity for the youth of our area to learn about the three decades of the struggle, beginning at 7pm in the Sally Gardens. The collusion exhibition will be on display, along with a video, and a panel of speakers will talk about the Troubles from the 1970s to present. The evening will end with a disco.

On Sunday, there will be a commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony at the republican Plot in Milltown Cemetery. Those attending are asked to assemble at the cemetery at 12:30pm for a 1pm service, and afterwards all are invited to the Felons.
