An Cumann Cabhrach, which, together with Green Cross and Irish Northern Aid, provided support for families of republican prisoners and of IRA Volunteers who lost their lives as a result of the conflict, was re-launched in Dublin on 6 November.

A new officer board was put in place and the meeting resolved to develop An Cumann Cabhrach on a regional basis throughout the 32 Counties.

The work carried out on behalf of the wider republican family by all who have previously been involved with the group was unanimously endorsed.

"The late Joe Cahill was at the centre of An Cumann Cabhrach for all of its existence, together with his wife Annie," said incoming secretary Vincent Wood, "and it is fitting that Annie has agreed to become Honourary President of the organisation".

The incoming board comprises: Annie Cahill, Honourary President; Eugene Sloan, Chair; Vincent Wood, Secretary; and Deirdre Whelan, Treasurer.
