Sinn Féin to keep up pressure on Lisburn

Sinn Féin has asked for a meeting with Dublin's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern, to discuss anti-nationalist discrimination in Lisburn Council and question him about the commitments made by his predecessor Brian Cowen to monitor the situation.

Lisburn Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Butler says the party will step up its campaign against discrimination in the council and has called on the Dublin Government to take a more active role in resolving the issue.

"A number of councils in the North have already passed motions criticising the discrimination against nationalists which goes on at Lisburn Council and others have tabled motions for council meetings later this month," said Butler. "We will be asking councils in the 26 Counties to follow suit."
