Still trying to recruit informers
The PSNI Special Branch offered to pay a 37-year-old Sion Mills man £500 a month to spy on so-called dissident republicans in the Strabane area.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed he was approached by two Special Branch members who called to his home near Sion Mills PSNI Barracks around 10pm on Wednesday 3 November. He said that despite the efforts made on his doorstep to persuade him to become a "police informant" or risk going to jail, he refused the offer.
