PSNI gun find cover up probe

Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Butler has welcomed the move by the Police Ombudsman's Office to investigate a gun and ammunition find close to a Sinn Féin office on the Stewartstown Road on Wednesday 13 October.

Sinn Féin accused the PSNI of covering up the discovery when the force failed to publicise the find until challenged to do so publicly.

Butler said he asked the Ombudsman to investigate the failure of the PSNI to inform him or other party members of the threat posed to them by the find.
