PSNI used nationalists as shields

Sinn Féin has slammed as reckless the actions of the PSNI and RIR during an attempted bomb attack when they tried to move residents of houses in Lower Main Street in Roslea into a community centre facing the PSNI base, which was the target of the attack.

A car containing the bomb was left outside the PSNI barracks at around 8.40pm on Saturday 11 October. A man shouted a warning before making off on foot.

Fermanagh Sinn Féin Councillor Brian McCaffery said the attack, carried out by micro groupings who have little or no support in the nationalist community, was used by the PSNI and the RIR to further disrupt the nationalist community in Roslea, accusing them of "trying to use residents as shields".

McCaffery added that contrary to PSNI press releases, only a few families left their homes and none went to the community centre.
