Nine candidates for Wexford locals

Wexford Sinn Féin held a press conference last Friday to launch the party's 2004 local election candidates.

Kerry North TD Martin Ferris was in the Ferrycarrig Hotel in Wexford town as Sinn Féin unveiled their largest ever team of candidates to contest next June's local elections in county Wexford, with nine candidates contesting twelve seats.

Sinn Féin already holds a seat on each of the four town councils in the county and is confidently making preparations for a major increase in representation at the next local elections.

The candidates are: Anthony Kelly, Wexford Borough Council; David Forde, Wexford Borough Council; John Dwyer, New Ross Town Council and Wexford County Council; Bernie Murphy, New Ross Town Council; Gerard Barron, New Ross Town Council; Jimmy Fleming, Gorey Town Council and Wexford County Council; Maurice Roche, Wexford County Council; Noreen Sheridan, Enniscorthy Town Council and Wexford County Council; and Sandra Ryan, Gorey Town Council.

Two for Limerick City

Sinn Féin has selected its first two candidates to contest next year's local eelections in Limerick City. Maurice Quinlivan, a travel agent, and Nancy Irwin, a teacher and former Labour Councillor in Croydon, England, are confident of making significant gains.
