Wolfe Tone Society backs Palestinians

he Wolfe Tone Society had a highly visible presence on the 17 May Palestinian Rally in Trafagar Square in Central London. Dozens of supporters of Sinn Féin were in attendance and we ran a very busy stall on the day with people looking for information on the peace process in Ireland and promising to build and attend the march organised by the Wolfe Tone Society in Central London on Saturday 24 May on the theme 'Building a United Ireland - Demand the Immediate Reinstatement of Elections'. This was well received, with contingents of Basque, Catalan and Palestinians, as well as Irish and English people promising to attend the march next week.

PRO for the Wolfe Tone Society, Peter Middleton, said: "It is time for the peoples from all countries in struggle to stand behind a united banner of Freedom, Justice and Peace in the world. The Wolfe Tone Society demands that the British goverment immediately allow the elections in the North of Ireland to go ahead in June and allow the democratic mamdate of the people of the Six Counties to be heard." He also demanded that the British government, and in particular Tony Blair, "stop Saving Trimble and demand real leadership and support for the Good Friday Agreement from the unionist community".
