August 20th marks the death of Michael Devine, the 10th republican hunger striker to die in 1981. Born in Derry, Devine grew up in the tumult of the civil rights protests, internment and Bloody Sunday in January 1972. He died after 60 days on hunger strike. Coiste Na n-Iarchimí bursaries for education or training

IN August 2009 Coiste Na n-Iarchimí launched its Education and Training Bursary Scheme, which has to date assisted almost 500 former political prisoners and immediate family members with costs towards their education or training.

Maghaberry Prison protest ends in agreement
