TAOISEACH Brian Cowen saw no problem in using the weekend Fianna Fáil Easter Rising Commemoration at Arbour Hill to lecture public sector workers that industrial action rejecting the Croke Park pay deal "can only mean further jobs losses". The following day, though, he still couldn't bring himself to even suggest to Fianna Fáil nominee and EU Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn that she should give up her €108,000 state pension while she's in a job with a salary of €243,000. Community anger at killing of Seamus Fox

AS HUNDREDS of people gathered in West Belfast on Wednesday for the funeral of 58-year-old Seamus Fox the mood of anger at his brutal killing is still palpable. The father-of-eight was attacked and beaten to death as he returned home in the early hours of Thursday morning from a nearby social club. A young man who came across Mr Fox's body described the scene of the attack as having "blood everywhere". An 18-year-old has appeared in court and has been charged with murder. He had handed himself in to the PSNI in Antrim Town. Free article

HEAD SHOPS: Sinn Féin members take action, on the streets and in the Dáil

ATURDAY saw Sinn Féin protesters target four 'head shops' in the Dublin South-Central area in another of a series of actions by Sinn Féin up and down the country. Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD was joined by Councillor Críona Ní Dhálaigh and nearly 30 other demonstrators who gathered outside the premises on Thomas Street, Meath Street, The Coombe and Clanbrasssil Street to highlight the dangers of the poisons being sold to young people from these stores. Newtownhamilton bombers play into the hands of British securocrats

"small militarist group" that placed a car bomb in Newtownhamilton, County Armagh, last week, injuring two people and causing damage to local property, "dishonour the name of republican". Charges against RUC should have been considered over killing of Nora McCabe, says Belfast High Court

PERJURY CHARGES should have been considered against RUC officers involved in the plastic bullet killing of mother-of-three Nora McCabe out shopping in west Befast during the 1981 Hunger Strike, the Belfast High Court said on Tuesday. The pronouncement came during a legal challenge by Nora McCabe's husband, Jim, to the failure by the Director of Public Prosecutions to file charges of murder or manslaughter against any of the RUC officers involved in killing his wife.
