Cinema: Boost for West Belfast Film Festival

The West Belfast Film Festival, now in its third year, has pulled off a major coup by securing the Irish premiere of Wilde, the new film about the life of Oscar Wilde. Present at the screening on Friday 26 September in Cineworld in the Kennedy Centre on the Falls Road, will be the film's star, Stephen Fry.

Other highlights of the festival include a special screening of When We Were Kings, winner of the 1997 Oscar for Best Documentary. When We Were Kings is a chronicle of the Ali-Foreman heavyweight fight in Zaire. The documentary is supported by Belfast Boxers, a 30 minute documentary directed by Diarmuid Lavery for the BBC.

Also included in the festival are Rosa Luxemburg, Paris, Texas, Cool Hand Luke and Jump The Gun, an acclaimed new film about post-apartheid South Africa, among many others.
