Over 1,200 signatures collected in Water Tax petition

Glens Sinn Féin representative Maria O'Hara and local councillor Oliver McMullan are pictured here with in excess of 1,200 signatures on a petition calling on the government not to implement the outrageous water tax in the North of Ireland.

"This Petition, which Moyle Council agreed to circulate after the Sinn Féin Council Team proposed that the council adopt it, is unique," said O'Hara. "Moyle is the only council in the North of Ireland to actually back Sinn Féin in its fight to prevent this wholly unfair tax from being levied against citizens within the Six Counties."

"These signatures were collected in the Glens area alone and many more have been collected from other wards within Moyle," said McMullan. "I would like to personally thank Moyle Council for taking up this challenge and would urge other council areas, not only in North Antrim but throughout the entire Six Counties, to follow this council's lead on this issue."
