Speaking in the last days of the EU campaign, Ireland South candidate, Toiréasa Ferris, said that the election is an opportunity for change, not just a reaction to the government parties' disastrous performance. Toiréasa Ferris said: "The latest figures on redundancies remind us how serious a situation the country is in. My generation is the one hit hardest by the collapse of the Irish economy. Fianna Fáil senator backs Harney's home-help cuts

DONEGAL Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty has accused Fianna Fáil Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill of false accusations and name calling while defending his government's cuts to home-help services in County Donegal. The public row erupted after Pearse Doherty exposed in the Seanad that nearly 30,000 home-help hours are to be cut in the county over the course of a year. Free article

Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald with gold medal winner Lauren Bradshaw of Cabra based Taekwondo club Pilsung ITF. The club won 15 medals at the European champion-ships in Croatia.

It is of a civil rights march in Derry and the speaker is Roddy Connolly, son of 1916 leader James Connolly.The crowd contains many familiar republican faces from Derry including, sadly, some people including IRA Volunteers who later died on active service.

THE death has taken place of veteran Belfast republican Marshall Mooney. Marshall's remains were taken to Whitecliff Crescent en route from Killough to Roselawn Cemetery. The coffin, flanked by a republican guard of honour and led by a piper, proceeded to the local memorial garden. Free article
