Health minister in Munster

Sinn Féin Health Minister Bairbre de Brún was in Miunster last weekend, lending her support to the election campaign of Martin Ferris and other Sinn Féin candidates.

Her visit coincided with the annual Spring Seminar of the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland (AMAI), which was being held in Tralee. The seminar was attended by several Sinn Féin councillors from around the 26 Counties.

On Friday evening, Sinn Féin councillors on the AMAI Executive secured an invitation to Minister de Brún to attend the seminar dinner at the Brandon Hotel.

In Cork on Saturday, at the invitation of Jonathan O'Brien, Sinn Féin candidate in Cork North Central, de Brún met with tenants' groups, sports club members and members of the Irish Immigrant Support Centre.

"While Bairbre was in Cork I wanted to show her the many positive things happening on the ground in the city," said O'Brien. "Cork North Central has suffered years of neglect by successive governments but people on the ground are fighting back. Some, like Noel O'Flynn, like to play the racist card to cover their years of inaction. Sinn Féin is organising at community level to empower people to better their own lives."
