Johhny O'Shea

It was with great shock and sadness that we learned of the sudden death on 30 October of our friend and comrade Johnny O'Shea of Keel, Castlemaine, County Kerry. Johnny was a committed republican for more than 20 years, always willing to do whatever he could to advance our struggle, and the huge turnout at his funeral was testament to his popularity in the Republican Movement and in his own community.

In a graveside oration, Sinn Féin Councillor Cathal Foley of Tralee UDC paid tribute to Johnny's dedication to the struggle for Irish freedom, democracy and justice. Foley said that it is people like Johnny O'Shea who have brought us to where we are today and that we must continue on that same struggle.

To Johnny's family, friends and neighbours, we offer our heartfelt condolences and a promise that we will not forget him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
