Kevin Barry Commemoration

On Sunday, 4 November, in brilliant sunshine, a large crowd turned out in Tralee to honour Kevin Barry who was executed on 1 November 1920 at the tender age of 18. The crowd, led by the Ballyseedy Martyrs' Band, marched from the Sinn Fein Office at Moyderwell Corner to the young patriot's monument at Kevin Barry's Villas. The commemoration was chaired by Cllr Cathal Foley.

In his oration, Cllr Martin Ferris paid tribute to people like Kevin Barry before turning his attention to the forthcoming general election: "We are facing into an important period in North Kerry with the certainty of an election next year. I am honoured to be your candidate. However, this campaign is not just about Martin Ferris and Sinn Féin. If we win this seat, it will be for all the people of North Kerry; it will be their seat that will give them the honest and committed representation that they deserve."
