Stop Nigeria deportations call

Richard Aro-Lambo, a member of the Nigerian community in Ireland, and Rosanna Flynn from Residents Against Racism, delivered a letter to the Minister for Justice John O'Donoghue on Wednesday, 7 November, asking for an immediate stop to the deportation of Nigerian citizens, and particularly pregnant women, to Nigeria.

Their call comes in the context of a recent case in Nigeria where Satiya Tungar-Tudu was sentenced to death by stoning for adultery. The Nigerian community in Ireland is asking the Dublin government to carry out an urgent revision of the current agreement between Ireland and Nigeria, signed in August 2001 in order to facilitate the deportation of Nigerian citizens from Ireland.
