No intention of putting Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael into power, says Gerry Adams
EAMON GILMORE is trying to distract attention from his party’s intention to put Fine Gael into power, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has said.
Gerry Adams said:
Eamon Gilmore’s claim that he interprets my remarks this morning on RTÉ about Sinn Féin’s ability to do a deal with Ian Paisley – in response to a question about Sinn Féin’s ability to do a deal with Mr Gilmore – as some sort of overture to Fianna Fáil is a flimsy attempt to distract attention from his intention of putting Fine Gael into Government.
Sinn Féin has no intention of putting either of these conservative parties into government.
The Sinn Féin leader added:
There is a need for a realignment in Irish politics.
The general election could accelerate this and the necessary root and branch reform of our political, social and economic systems.
That is what is needed at this time.
